Happy Halloween

Riley had a fun morning at daycare, with all her costumed friends. Then we went out to the Griffins, to go trick-or-treating with Riley's future prom date (Kai-football player). Riley wasn't sure why we were going to go out in the cold when she was reading some good books. She also wasn't sure why people were putting candy in her bucket, when she was just going to pull them out and replace them with rocks. Good times! Happy Halloween!

Craven Farms

We went to Snohomish to visit Craven Farms. This farm might be more fun as she gets older. This late in the season, the pumpkins at the front of the patch were all rotten, and of course Riley wants to run and touch them all. We packed up and headed over to Stocker Farm where all the pumpkins are in a small area and she could freely run and pat them. As we were leaving, Riley spotted a helicopter and was captivated.

Pumpkin Eating at the Zoo

We went to the zoo with Addy and Doug to see the animals eat pumpkins. It was a special day where they feed a different animal pumpkins every half hour. We got to the zoo shortly after it opened and let the girls play in the Zoonasium. Then we headed over to the hippos about 10 minutes before pumpkin eating time. It was packed out and there was no way the girls were going to see anything. A zoo keeper told us the next animal on the schedule and said it was in thirty minutes, so we headed to the Lion Tailed Macques (small monkey). We were the only ones there, so we staked out our spot right on the window and gave the girls a snack while we waited. We soon discovered that it was actually going to be an hour after the hippo feeding, but we decided we didn't want to miss it, so we stuck it out. It was the most anti-climactic experience. The zoo keeper brought out two small pumpkins that had been carved, and the monkeys ran over, ripped off the lids, ate the berries inside, and ran off. A squirrel might have been more entertaining. Next year, we're going to get a spot at the wolves. Hopefully that will be worth the wait. Of course, the girls had fun anyway. They loved the leaves on the ground the most.

Stocker Farms

Riley's daycare provider had strep throat, so I got to take the day off. It was the best day to miss work because it was almost 80 degrees, and we went to Stocker Farm's Pumpkin Patch with the Griffins. Kai showed Riley how to pick the good ones and how to pick them up. Riley also enjoyed Storytime at Barnes and Noble and their special train in the kids' section.

Little Tiger

I got to daycare and found Riley in a tiger costume. Of course, I had to run back out to my car for the camera. Riley thought I was going to leave again, so there was no way she was going to let me put her down for this picture. That's why it's little tiger with her mom.
